Property management and ownership are doing their part to help reduce our building’s environmental footprint by implementing several capital projects and introducing building programs/policies that incorporate sustainable practices.
The building’s policies and programs are driven by LEED standards, such as a Green Cleaning Policy, and Integrated Pest Management Plan. These policies and programs ensure that the least toxic methods are used to protect the building’s occupants and the surrounding environment from harmful chemicals. There is also a Sustainable Purchasing Policy in place with a focus on utilizing eco-friendly and sustainable materials in the day to day management and operations at 720 King Street West. With initiatives in place such as the Multi-Stream Waste Program, we have successfully increased our waste diversion, which helps reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill.
Various capital projects are currently underway, with more to be rolled out in the next few years to improve building systems and help reduce energy consumption. Property Management is also ensuring staff and contractors are engaging in new habits like turning off monitors at the end of the day, and reminding them to turn off lights in the offices and all service rooms/areas when not in use.
